Watching the show while sick has reminded me just how ahead of its time it was. In Season One alone they handled:
-- Post Op transexuals
-- Polygamists
-- Stem Cell research
-- Homosexual Serial Killers
-- Incest
-- Teen pregnancy
These topics might seem tame by todays standards but this show was on 1993-1997. That's over a decade ago and it was handling topics that are still taboo today. I've never been a David E Kelley fan other than this show. Ally McBeal did nothing for me and I was never able to care about his Boston Public or Boston Legal characters. Although I wonder if maybe those shows are also tackling topics that are beyond its times.
More on this later. Nyquill sleep calls to me.
